Our next meeting will see military medal specialist talk about the Victoria Cross

The Lodge of Research No.2429 is proud to announce that at their next meeting the special guest lecturer will be W. Bro. Mark Smith AGSwdB.

Mark is a military museum curator and specialist in military medals. He has appeared regularly on the BBC Antiques Roadshow since 2014 and has valued many rare items, including a large collection of World War One German memorabilia and a toy panda mascot that flew on the famous “Dambusters Raid” in 1943 when the Roadshow visited RAF Coningsby.

In this presentation, Mark will tell provide more information about the Victoria Cross which is the highest award a British serviceman or woman can receive. To receive the award requires an act of extreme bravery in the presence of the enemy and there are many fascinating stories associated with the recipients.
